Intuition

Intuition involves a paradox.

We all make judgements on the basis of available information. Bad judgements may result from flawed information and, or, inadequate or incomplete experience. Our judgement leads us to believe that a sequence of events that happened in the past will repeat itself in the future. Judgement becomes interchangeable with intuition.

Yet intuition often has little to do with facts, information, or balanced judgement. Very occasionally, I buy a lottery ticket. The odds of winning the uk lottery jackpot are 45million to one against. I recently had a heart operation during which there was a 1 in 5 chance I would die.  I hoped that I would win the jackpot even though the evidence was that I would not, I hoped that I would survive the operation even though the evidence was that I might not.

Intuition seems to me to be about a balance of hope versus probability.
